Description

Will Bernard has gotten a lot of recognition far outside his San Francisco Bay Area home base. He's a local guitar legend there, a fixture on the scene for two decades - besides putting together the list of players for Party Hats, he had the idiosyncratic, R&B savvy Motherbug bands and the geographically-scattered group Frequinox. Bernard's jazz approach is juicy and sizzling and his multifaceted vision is glued to a groove. Bernard's past work includes Peter Apfelbaum's Hieroglyphics Ensemble and the Grammy-nominated T.J. Kirk Band.

Since exploding onto the jazz scene with fellow Bay Area-born jazz guitarists Charlie Hunter and John Schott (and w/ percusssionist extraordinare Scott Amendola) in the much-heralded T.J. Kirk, Will Bernard has kept turning out stellar recording session after stellar recording session. He's also a much sought after band mate for many other top jazz musicians, touring right now with two other assemblages besides his own (he never rests!), including with keyboardist John Medeski. Will is among the top of the jazz guitar hierarchy. His quick inventiveness, technical expertise and breadth of creativity is stunning. Here, he teams with a plethora of top Bay Area talent (before his move to NYC), including keyboardist Will Blades and sax masters Dave Ellis & Peter Apfelbaum, among others. Great line up and even greater results. Will keep you on the edge of your chair sucking up the flow of "wow" moments. Will is a musician's musician - much to learn from this man.
